Paecilomyces lilacinus, known as nematicide, is a common saprophytic, entomopathogenic, mycoparasitic, saprophytic, as well as nematophagous, filamentous fungus. It is parasitic on nematodes infecting eggs, juveniles, and adult females of root knot and cyst nematodes. The species can grow at a wide range of temperatures – from 8°C to 38°C for a few isolates, with optimal growth in the range 26°C to 30°C. It also has a wide pH tolerance and can grow on a variety of substrates. After many times of field trial, Paecilomyces lilacinus has proven promising results for use as a bio control agent to control the growth of destructive root-knot nematodes.

Paecilomyces lilacinus is an effective parasite of Meloidogyne incognita and Nemacystus albicans eggs, and its egg parasitism rate to Meloidogyne incognita is as high as60%~70%. It is effective in preventing and controlling various nematodes. Its hosts include root-knot nematodes, cyst nematodes, golden nematodes, xenodermoid nematodes, and even intestinal roundworms of human beings and animals. It is the most promising biocontrol agent for preventing and controlling root-knot nematodes.
The inhibition mechanism of Paecilomyces lilacinus on root-knot nematodes is that after Paecilomyces lilacinus contacts with nematode oocysts, biocontrol bacteria hyphae surround the whole egg in a viscous matrix, and the hyphal ends become thicker. The surface layer of the egg shell is ruptured due to the activities of exogenous metabolites and fungal chitinase, and then fungi invade and replace the egg shell. It can also secrete toxins to kill nematodes.
During planting, apply 1.5 gram /square meter, base on nematode situation.
Reapply every 28 days for season-long control
During cultivation, apply 1.5 gram /square meter as a lay by application incorporating the spray into the soil profile.
Cultivation applications should only be used as a supplemental treatment following an in-furrow application.
2 years shelf life, 1 kg per foil bag, 25 kg per bag
Store in cool, dry location, keep out of direct sunshine and moisture.
Once opened, should be use it within 30 days to prevent activation. Keep out of reach of children.
